Imaginisce' s September Sketch

So, I'm just a few hours early with this post as I've got something else up for the 1st of September. So this will give some of you eager beavers a head start on the sketch.

This month's sketch challenge for Imaginisce has been created by Aida Haron.

I had fun with this one and used up some of my Splash Dance collection. Here's my take on it. I actually flipped the pictures a bit along with the title & journaling.
Supplies used: Imaginisce (Splash Dance papers, stickers, chipboard), American Crafts Thickers, EK Success photo corner punch

Make sure to check out the Imaginisce blog for the list of design team members that played along this month.
And just to remind you of the details of the challenge ... here's what you need to do:

1. First of all head on over to Imaginisce's blog. Leave a comment on the blog there for a chance to win a great prize. Then check out the list of design team members that particpated in this month's sketch and leave a comment on each of their blogs for an extra chance at winning.

2. Then participate in the sketch using at least 75% of Imaginisce product and post a link to the Imaginisce blog so that we can see your creation.

Have a great night!

Drumroll please ...

... for the lucky winner of my online questions/answers from last week is ...

Blogger Alison Day said...

Wow! Those lavenders are awesome!! And I loved how you cut up your picture. I think that look is really cool and am itching to try it!
I've signed up for a couple of those on-line classes and while the idea of them is great I have failed to find the time (or is that MAKE the time) to do the projects! The usual state of affairs around here is that as soon as I sit down to scrap one or more of my daughters decides that they have spent long enough in independent play and think "what's Mommy doing? She must be desperately lonely and bored since we've been playing so nicely for so long. Let's go hang out at her elbow for a bit!" LOL!
But I do think they are a good idea and hold on to the dream of completing the work ... one day!

So, Alison, if you could email me at cari_locken@yahoo.ca with your mailing address I'll send you out a new issue (fall 2010) of Canadian Scrapbooker and some other little goodies too! ;)

Thanks to all of you who answered my questions (about online classes). I'd still love to hear from more of you about what you think of online classes. Long or short ones, do you even like them, what kinds of classes would you like (layouts, mini albums, special projects, etc).

Went to the PNE yesterday afternoon/evening and the kids enjoyed themselves immensely. They always look forward to this time of year. But man! It was busy and boy! do they know how to suck a person's wallet dry!!! I can't believe how expensive everything is these days! Aside from that we really did have fun!

Hope you had a great weekend too. Now off to do laundry and enjoy the last week before school.
I'll leave you with another layout that I have in Canadian Scrapbooker - our assignment was farm animals.

Supplies used: Core'dinations cardstock, Fiskars border punch, American Crafts Thickers, Chipboard Alpha, Making Memories photo turns/brads, Biscous chipboard pieces, Cosmo Cricket patterned paper

Queen & Co. and Core'dinations

This was such an awesome swap - Core'dinations and Queen & Co. have joined forces in a manner of speaking. Not really. But, .... Queen & Co. have now come out with a basic line of embellishments that match Core'dinations Cardstock. Their product is marked by using a small Core' Match symbol so that you know. They've got round brads, jewels, glitter brads, felt daisies, ribbon buckles, ribbons, specialty buttons, bling rhinestones and my ultimate favorite ... bling pearls (I could seriously use these all the time!!) CLICK HERE to see some of these products.

The Core' Design Team has been working hard on various projects and yesterday some cards were posted on the Core' blog by Linda Beeson, Heather Bowser & Sarah Hodginkson. They're so amazing - I just love the creativity when it comes to card making.

Today on the blog there are some layouts shown using many of the products by Lydia Jackson, Kandis Smith and myself.

Here's a layout that I created using pearls (on the chipboard alph), belt buckles, flowers, buttons and brads.
Supplies used: Core'dinations cardstock, Queen & Co (pearls, buttons, ribbon buckle, felt flowers, brads), Fiskars border punch, EK Success corner photo corner punch, twine, ink (Colorbox), Basic Grey chipboard alpha

Make sure to keep checking out the Core' blog as there's more amazing projects that will be revealed next week.
That's it for now! Have a fabulous weekend!

Routine

I can honestly say that I am really looking forward to getting back into a routine around here. No more trying to keep the kids occupied 24/7 as they'll be in school. Because truth be told - I'm tired!! I have a great summer with them and they've been super kids. They've played together so well and I'm very thankful for that.

As for today we've got swimming lessons lined up and they're all doing really well.

Then we'll be out doing a bunch of errands and hopefully have a chance later to ride bikes. (because right now ... it's raining.)

Oh, and keep the comments coming regarding online classes. I'll close my little draw (for those that comment about it in the post below this one) on Sunday night, August 29th. The lucky winner will received a little goodie from me.

Anyways, we're off!
Have a great day!

Successful and a question for you!

Well, the garage sale went on ... even with a teeny tiny bit of rain. I'm so thankful though that we had our big tent. I was worried that morning though thinking it would be called off at the last minute. So glad that it wasn't because I stayed up making a banner for the tent, my daughter was excited to help out and we sold quite a bit of stuff. (still have a bunch to get rid of though)

Here's Kailyn & me in aprons that my mom made. (she sews these all the time and sells them at The Little White House in Fort Langley - they're all black & white though and each one is different! They're fabulous.

And here's the banner that I worked on. Nothing fancy but it was fun to make.
Thanks Pat for the pics.

Ok, I've been thinking about this for a long time as was wondering what many of you thought about this topic. How many of you have taken on-line classes before? Do you like the 1 week class or the 5-12 week kind? These classes are the kind where you can sign up/pay but do it in your own time.
I've been thinking about doing this and was wondering what all of you though and whether or not you'd be interested. Please leave me your comments as I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts. And who knows ... maybe I'll have a little giveaway!!!!

Well, I need to get off of here and head to bed as I've done something to my back and the only place it feels good is lying down. So I'm outta here ... but before I go I'll leave you with another layout that's in the fall issue of Canadian Scrapbooker.
Our challenge was to create a layout using mosaics. So I did that to my photo - 3 large pieces not a bunch of small ones.

Supplies used: Core'dinations cardstock, Rose Moka alpha stickers, Stampin' Up brown clip

Good night!

Garage Sale Day!!

Well, I woke up this morning before 7am and got up, made myself a yummy cup of coffee and have been watching the sky getting darker and filling with more & more clouds! :( I'm really praying that we don't get wet out there today at Clipper Street. That would be quite miserable! I'm hoping that whomever I'm beside in the parking lot won't mind that I have a big tent to set up - at least they'll be a bit dry too! ;)

Canadian Scrapbooker Fall 2010 issue is out and it's awesome!!! I've got a few layouts in this issue and wanted to share one with you this morning.

We are always given a list of assignments to work for eash issue & one of the assignments for this issue was to create a layout using the color red. So, I used some amazing Core'dinations cardstock (Jenni Bowlin collection) cardstock that is brown but when you sand it a red color comes through. I added more red patterned paper to go along with the "red" color scheme.

Here's my layout: "I Love Your Smile"

Supplies used: Core'dinations cardstock, Jenni Bowlin patterned papers, Stampin'Up clip, Fancy Pants chipboard embellishments, Making Memories chipboard alphabet, Fiskars border punch.

Don't forget to check out the new Webisode #9 issue on the Canadian Scrapbooker site. It's about making mini albums!

Well, off to get ready for the big sale. Remember, if you live in the area you won't want to miss out on all the amazing deals - as I've heard that it's going to be a ton of fun!!!

Please don't rain tomorrow!

I've been busy all week long (well, longer than that) getting stuff ready for the Tailgate Garage Sale at Clipper Street tomorrow and I'm really hoping that it doesn't rain.

My floor is just covered with boxes of stuff and I'm hoping that NONE of it comes back home with me!! It's taken a while to label everything but it's all done. I've got some awesome paper kits put together, mini albums, rub-ons, stamps, chipboard, idea books, etc. The list is endless!!

So if you're on the hunt for some great deals on scrapbooking goods then make sure to stop by Clipper Street in Langley tomorrow Sunday, August 22 from 10:30 am to 2:30pm. It's going to be a ton of fun!!! Hope to see you there!

Ahh, the weekend!

So, we're off to the beach for the day!! Can't wait - even though I hate finding all that sand when we get home!!
It's supposed to be a gorgeous day as the sun is shining & there's not a cloud in the sky.

Just wanted to share a new site I found called My Little Bit of Whimsy. First of all I just love the bright, fun colors of the blog! So cheerful! She makes these darling pins and buttons from clay.
I'll definitely be placing an order sometime!!! AND my favorite part of all - She's Canadian!!! Woohoo!!!

Ok, so off for a quick exercise and then to the beach, to the beach, to the beach!!!

Phew! Been busy!

Can't believe it's been a week since I last wrote here. Summer is busy and that's good. Although the last few days the weather hasn't been as hot as it was. But I think things are looking up for the rest of the week.

Just wanted to share that I'm posting today on the Paper Trunk blog. CLICK HERE for my post.
And I'll just share a couple of peeks as it wouldn't be fair if I showed it all ... now would it? You'll just have to head on over to the blog to find out more.

I was excited earlier this week to get an email from Scrapbook Trends requesting a mini album for their new Mini Albums issue that's coming out! I love this album and just was so happy that they asked for it!

Tomorrow is my mom & dad's wedding anniversary.
Happy 43rd Anniversary Mom & Dad! I love you both very much!
