It's snowing!

The kids are screaming that as I type! They are so excited! Now, it's not much but it was forecasted to snow a little today and tomorrow. So we'll see.
Today the kids have their school Christmas concert. I'm excited to see them sing their songs and perform. And yes, I will definitely have my camera - however I stink at taking photos inside this building. Oh well - it's memories right?

Oh and do you want to hear about an exciting give-away??? I'm sure you do!!!
Check out THIS post on the Imaginisce Blog. Tim Holtz is featured for the I-spy project because he used the fabulous i-top tool. Now I must tell you if you haven't used this tool before you have definitely got to try it out! I just love mine!!!! It's so easy to use and there's so many things that you can do with it!! Imaginisce is going to give away an i-top tool set!! All you have to do is leave a comment on the blog - on the post that I've listed above. So go check it out!!

And now I promised you a little tutorial the other day.
Here's the project.
Supplies used: Imaginisce (Polar Expressions patterned paper, rub-ons, flower, i-top brad), metal star (Michaels), oval punch (EK Success), green button, red ribbon, ink (Colorbox)

The steps are fairly simple (sorry I don't have step-by-step photos):
  • choose your paper and lay it overtop of one star "point" (as you can see the point has 2 sides to it and I covered each side with a different patterned paper)
  • gently flatten the paper down over the pointed image so that you get the general shape creased onto your paper
  • then cut out that triangle shape, match it up so see if it fits nicely (you may need to do a bit of trimming for a closer fit)
  • use that cut out triangle image as a template for the other points, always using different patterned papers
  • Glue all pieces onto the star using an adhesive such a ZipDry to adhere to the metal
  • I inked all the edges of the paper once they were glued onto the star.
  • I then took some wide grosgrain red ribbon, tied it in a bow and trimmed the tails.
  • I used my i-top tool & patterned paper to cover the i-top brad daddie.
  • I punched a small hole through the center of my ribbon, inserted the brad through the hole and then through the hole of the red flower.
I finished it off my using a rub-on image on patterned paper, punched it out with an oval punch and tied that with some string to the ribbon loop.
And that's it! It was very simple and didn't take much time to put together at all. I love how it turned out too.
Well, off to get some kids some lunch. Yes, they have the day off school but have two performances today. So we'll be on the go shortly.
Have a great weekend!!

I've been covering metal stars this season too and I've used the same template creating technique you have. Love how they look.
