This past week the Imaginisce Design Team were given a challenge.
Create a layout or card that:
- used 3 patterned papers
- the i-top tool
- non-traditional shape (no squares, circles, rectangels, etc)
- and the color orange somewhere on your project
We did a similiar challenge last year in regards to the shape of the project and I found that it really challlenged all of the designers to step out of their box and their traditional way of scrapbooking.
I decided to use my Cricut Expression 2 to create this owl shaped card (along with the Wild Card 2 cartridge).
Supplies used: Imaginisce (patterned papers from Makin' Waves and Monster Mash; i-top tool, 16mm brad daddies), embossing folders (Cuttlebug), Cuttlebug machine, Cricut Expression 2, Wild Card Cartridge, Core'dinations Colorcore Cardstock, The Twinery (twine)
I used the i-top Tool and 16mm brad daddies for the eyes.
I also embossed the orange the orange patterned paper on the body along with the branch (brown cardtsock card base). Because my card was way to big to even fit in the embossing folder and machine (Cuttlebug) I placed the cardstock in the embossing folder where I wanted the embossed design and just pushed a rolling pin over the folder, back & forth, etc until the image was embossed. It worked like a charm!
I typed out a sentiment for the inside of my card because I wanted to leave the outside just the way it was.
Hopefully you've had a chance to hop on over to the Imaginisce blog to see all the great designs that the rest of the Design Team have created. If not, make sure to do so because they are fabulous!!
Have a super weekend!
I really LOVE that owl!
