Red Poppies

Today is Remembrance Day and I'm so thankful to all those men & women who have served in the wars of this world. I often think of my own grandparents who drove airplanes, fixed the engines, delivered mail and often had to hide in the ditches or under bridges from the bombs dropping down from up above. I can't even begin to imagine how terrifying that must have been.

We wear red poppies on this day to be reminded of those that fought and many who gave their lives. Fittingly enough, myStampBOX has a blog post today that has to do with the color red. When I was working on my card I found that the stamp reminded me of the red poppies.

I actually used Birthday Balloons to make the flowers - I just got off the little knob at the bottom of the balloon. After stamping my image with Versamark I used a red embossing powder. I love the effect. I used some ribbon for the flower stems and tied them together with a piece of jute.

Supplies used: Core'dinations Cardstock, myStampBOX (Birthday Balloons & Gush stamp set), Basic Grey ribbon, Fiskars border punch
