Gorgeous!!!

I'm just lovin' this spring weather! It's beautiful outside.  I must admit that spring in Edmonton was a bit dreary because once the snow melted all that you saw what icky brown stuff and tons of sand on the roads.  I couldn't wait for my tulips to come up but that was always in May.  And here the tulips & daffodils are almost over!! Unbelievable huh?

The other day Tim took the kids to the park while I was getting supper ready.  While I was cooking stuff on the stove he called me on his cell.  J.J. had tripped and fell on his mouth. His teeth went through his lip so it was just a mess ... blood everywhere.  We weren't too sure if he'd need stitches. So I left quickly to go and pick him up and take him to the medi centre.  He was such a trooper and a tough little boy. The doctor said he would be fine and he is fine.  Just a little bruised and scratched up.  I did take a picture of him but haven't uploaded it yet.

Oh by the way, I have some extra kits of the "A Treasured Moment" canvas if anyone is interested and would like to make a gift for you mother ... seeing as Mother's Day is quickly coming up.
Just email me at cari_locken@yahoo.ca and I'll give you more info.
ETA - ALL SOLD OUT!

Well, I think that's it for now. Off to do some cleaning!
Have a great day!

Check it out!

Some new posts today at The Inspired Scrapbooker.  Our challenge was to use embossing templates.  I've posted mine below.  You must also check out Debbie Visser's stuff 'cause it's amazing!!

Here's a layout I made using October Afternoon patterned paper and Core'dinations cardstock. Love that stuff!!  I embossed on the cardstock and then sanded some of the raised images and then inked some others. I also embossed on the circle chipboard piece. Just think of embossing chipboard letters!!  Too fun huh? Yep! I already tried that too! ;)
This card I embossed, then lightly covered the raised image with Versamark, sprinkled embossing powder over that and heat embossed it.  I then took some Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels) and then wiped off the excess.  What you're left with is the glimmer mist on the sections that the embossing didn't affect.

For this card I embossed the acrylic bracket.  One thing to note is that the acrylic shouldn't be too thick otherwise it won't go through the Cuttlebug and you could potentially wreck your embossing template. After the acrylic shape was embossed I adhered a rub-on image over top.
With this card I used cork.  It's so easy to punch cork with your punches and they look so cool.  I embossed the cork and then lightly inked the raised parts so that the embossing would show up a little bit better.
I'm off tomorrow for a day of teaching at Loon Lake at The Ultimate Scrapbook Retreat.  I'm looking forward to it and hopefully the ladies are ready to get creating!!
Have a great weekend!

Spring is in the air!

I love this time of year! The tulips, daffodils and smells of spring are so refreshing!  Plus the sunshine is a huge bonus too!

Just wanted to share another class I'm teaching this weekend at The Ultimate Scrapbook Retreat.  It's a canvas class featuring a photo of you & your mom, you & your daughter or whatever you wish to use!

Here's a look.  It's full of Paper Trunk papers, diecuts, letter stickers, Prima flowers misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, paint, buttons, flowers, ribbon, etc. Tons of fun!  Thanks so much Carrie for the Paper Trunk stuff! I loved using it!

Well, I should get going and continue cleaning up around here and doing laundry. It was so nice to have another long weekend but boy! It's hard to get back into the swing of daily life after a little break.
Have a great Tuesday!!

Guest Designer

I was asked to design for Memory Workshop Scrapbook Inc. using their April kit.  It's filled with wonderful goodies from Upsy Daisy Designs and Sandra put together an awesome kit.  You can check HERE for more details.

Here's the April Kit. So pretty and those Prima flowers are so fun to play with.

Here's the bonus kit for April. I love the masculine colors here.
Here's what I created using this month's kit. Sandra asked me to do 2 two-page layouts.  Now if you know me then you know two pagers are something I haven't done much of lately.  But it came together and used my scraps to make 2 one-page layouts and a few cards.

Two Beauties

Fun Times at the Park
Girl Friends
A Special Bond.
I used the Prima packaging behind my photo and computer printed my text on it.
A collection of cards using my scraps.
Thanks so much Sandra for asking me to help out this month! I had a great time creating these projects and I'm looking forward to seeing how other people use this awesome kit!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
We took it easy today. I got my hair cut this morning. I baked some cupcakes and made some Paska (Easter bread) but it didn't turn out.   Good thing we have the cupcakes.  My mom took 2 of my kids to the museum where they had some Easter fun happening and I stayed here with my middle one who layed on the couch all day long. Just not feeling himself today - poor thing.
Later tonight we decorated some eggs, had some popcorn and now they're all tucked in bed sleeping ... I hope.
We're going to church tomorrow morning, then out for brunch with my folks and my brother's family and then everyone will come to our place for an Easter Egg hunt.  Should be fun!!

Have a great night!

Almost done!

Well, I finished another class project yesterday and boy it always feels good to get done.  Now I just need to kit everything up and then I'm really ready to go for next weekend.

Here's some pictures of the Card Class I'll be teaching next weekend at The Ultimate Scrapbooking Retreat.

Here's a picture of the card box that we will be making from scratch.  All the pieces for the front will be in your packages so don't panic ... you don't have to cut that out!

Here's a close up of the 6 cards that you will be making to fit into the box.  They will also come with a set of envelopes as well.

All the cards are made using Bazzill Basics cardstock and Daisy Bucket patterned papers. It's very pretty stuff.  I pre-stamped the sentiments so they will be fairly simple to assemble.
I'm looking forward to getting away again and teaching.
I'll share my other class with you another time.  Right now I'm going to take it easy and sit & relax on the couch with my hubby.

Hope you all have a wonderful & blessed Easter weekend.

I'm back!

Just came back from a nice weekend away with my hubby (and his family). It was relaxing and the weather was amazing!!! Still is today too!

I've been busy cleaning up around here - I've got a bit of the spring fever bug! I love getting things cleaned up & re-organized!

I've got a little peek here to show you of an upcoming class I'm teaching in a few weeks at The Ultimate Scrapbook Retreat at Loon Lake.  I've got another class that I'm working on right now for that retreat and we'll be using some fabulous Paper Trunk papers and a 12x12 canvas.  Just perfect for Mother's Day coming up!

Check back later this week and I'll have some more peeks of classes I'll be teaching at Clipper Street in May & June.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I should probably get back to my cleaning and laundry.

Scrap Shotz Reveal

It's that time again!!!

The DT members have uploaded their projects using the April kit ...

...and it's awesome!!! Lots of yummy Chatterbox goodness! You can check out the DT's work HERE.

This is a card that I created using some scraps after I made my layouts.
This layout I did about me turning 40.  Lots of changes ... both physical and emotional. Plus I don't usually do layouts with my photo on it! ;)
A layout about my son who's turning 7 in a few months. Yikes! Seven!!! Where has the time gone.  I sketched out the brackets freehand and then cut them out.  Chatterbox has awesome embellishments that were so much fun to use this month!
I used some strips of various patterned papers to create this layout.
And lastly a layout using more chipboard embellishments, buttons, epoxy butterfly and I cut some flowers out of the patterned papers.

That's it for now.  Hope you have a great day! Happy April 1st!
